The new range of hooks from fresh-faced company Spotted Fin is making a noise behind the scenes, and rightfully so. Encompassing four of the most popular patterns of all time, we are certain there will be one for you in the TurningPoint stable. Featuring Curved, Longshank Curved, Wide Gape and Straight Point, it doesn’t matter whether you prefer fishing pop-ups or bottom baits, you can rest assured that you will have the perfect presentation every time. One pattern that immediately caught my eye is the Longshank Curved.

On the right venue I am a real braid fan and have advocated its use in certain situations for many years. There’s always been a trade-off, however, between a braid that casts well and one that sinks. Generally, you cannot have one without sacrificing the other. The 832 was first given to me to play around with last year, and it took me a while to spool it up.

Despite being on the carp scene for just a matter of months, Taska Carp has made an excellent debut with some innovative carp fishing tackle. The Baseline Tungsten range consists of seven products, with the main emphasis on pinning down your end tackle. Tungsten-impregnated rubber is used to give them that all-important weight, and items such as the Sinkers can be slid up the hook link to pin down the rig at the business end. All of the beads are housed on a fine-gauge wire, much like a conventional float stop, allowing them to be effortlessly applied to the line.
