Slide shows, tackle and bait stands, licenced bar, live bands and entertainment at two-day carp festival!
Psssst. Want to see Terry Hearn’s slide show? How about the latest presentations from Laney, Oz Holness, Terry Dempsey, Adam Penning AND Iain Macmillan? All at one event?
Carp In The Park is the standalone social that boasts a star-studded line-up of speakers, live music, all the top brands and all the fun of a music festival.
Now in its second year, it’s a weekend not to be missed and it’s the perfect excuse to get away with your family and mates and bivvy up in the festival atmosphere of Billing Aquadrome.
Plus, if England’s football stars win their group at the Euros, we’ll be kicking the weekend off on the Friday evening with the quarter-final live on the giant festival screen! Even if Messrs Kane, Vardy and Hart cock up, we’ll be showing the premier of the new Shimano Dynamite carp film starring a load of French carp!
As well as the slide shows, live demos, teach-ins, casting clinic and all the latest gear, the event is your chance to rub shoulders with the biggest names in carping in a laid-back atmosphere smack, bang in the centre of England.
At a properly convened Extraordinary General Meeting of the Carp Society, held in Lechlade Gloucester on the evening of Thursday 12th May 2016, a number of changes were made to membership of the board of Directors. All decisions reached at the meeting were based on unanimous votes. Four directors were removed and four new directors elected. The directors removed from the current board by the meeting are: Malcolm Coller, David Mannall, Derek Buxton and Shane Thompson.
Mark Ward and his pal Nick, spent the week at Echo Pools at the beginning of May
Mark reported that the weather was not settled at all for the time they fished the pools but they managed to bank 11 fish between them, baits were varied between the ever Faithfull jungle, consistent Crave and multi worm. Presentations sensibly altered offering singles, doubles and snowman with an orange Flarze pop up to tip off the bait.
Marks fish were a mid 30lb a 42lb 8oz with 48lb and the awesome 61lbs G Spot (Main Picture). His fishing partner Nick had a total of 7 fish Including 3at 20lb a couple of 35 lb the long common weighing in at 42lb
and the aptly named Droopy at 59lb also.
Temple regular Rob O’Neil has just had his best ever session on Temple catching six fish topped by Nemo at 41lb 12oz, The Ghost at 38lb 15oz as well as another stunning thirty, a 30lb 12oz common. Rob arrived Friday morning first thing and decided to go in peg 9 after seeing a fish jump out next to the pads. The day was warm and bright but at around 6pm it clouded over and the fish started to show. The amount of fish in front of Rob was amazing.

Solar Tackle Team member Martin Neale has landed the three biggest commons on his Kent syndicate water on the first two sessions using the new TunaMino test bait
Following the capture of The Big Common from his Kent syndicate water, the biggest common in the lake, Solar tackle team member Martin headed back to the venue 5 days later, and promptly landed the second and third biggest commons. In two trips, he’s now landed all of the target fish he joined the venue to catch, and he only got his ticket for the lake a few weeks ago.
Martin explains: “I went down to the lake on Friday evening after work. Had a look in the Boat House Bay, which is where I landed The Big Common from a few days earlier, but someone was already in there.

If you don’t compromise on comfort, even if you have to pay a relatively princely sum for it, then this chair is going to be right up your street.
For starters, the padded mattress not only offers a soft, thick area for seating, but the adjustable lumbar support makes a huge difference to not only the comfort of the chair itself, but how long you’re happy sitting in it.
The head/neck rest is an excellent additional touch and not one that I’ve seen on a carpy chair thus far and, of course, the fact that it reclines means you choose your own position.
Although available in a standard size, this Big Daddy version is the one for comfort, if you don’t mind the size.
I first saw the original HQ when out on features with Avid-backed Ian Russell and, initially, didn’t pay it too much attention.
I’ve seen a million and one bivvies so I don’t always notice individual ones at first. However, over time, I grew to be pretty impressed with the ‘twin-skin’ design. This isn’t twin skin as in having a wrap attached; no, it’s what you might call a traditional construction but with an added (it’s removable) fabric inner lining.
I’m sure any angler would agree that when it comes to weighing your prize catch you want a reliable set of scales to ensure the highest level of accuracy.
I have used Reuben scales for as long as I can remember. Starting off with the entry-level Flyweight Mk2 scales, I have worked my way up to the Specimen Hunter Classic. Brought back into production in 2011, this model boasts the original dial configuration and beta light pointer illumination of the 1988 model.
