Covert Mugga And Chod Hooks

The Mugga pattern from Gardner has been around for a long time. Indeed, it was one of the first short, swept-shank versions to hit the carp market and its pattern immediately lent itself to multiple rig uses.
As more and more companies started to produce similar hooks, the fashion turned to dull coatings and Gardner was a little slow to react with the Muggas at first.
However, that was soon remedied when the company launched its Covert coatings onto several patterns of its popular hooks. The result is a hook that remains a solid, reliable performer but with an exceptional coating to boot.

Recently, Gardner has launched two new patterns in the Covert range, namely the Chod Hook and Continental Mugga. The first is in keeping with modern trends towards chod-rig fishing and, as such, features all that you’d expect from such a pattern – wide gape, sharp, straight point and out-turned eye. Whether a hook that is suspended tight beneath the hook bait needs to be coated is up for debate, but it certainly isn’t going to cost you any fish. Besides, the Chod Hook also lends itself to other, stiff, bottom-bait rigs.

The Continental Mugga is a beefed-up version of the aforementioned Mugga hook, again boasting the Covert coating, but with a stronger gauge and in sizes right up to a 2.
