The third Northern Angling Show has been announced and will take place on Saturday, March 28th and Sunday, March 29th, 2015. This event, which will once again be held at EventCity in Manchester, is the only angling show held in the north and is set to host some of the biggest retailers and angling stars in the business, including TV star Adam Penning and Nash Tackle’s Alan Blair – while Des Taylor, Rob Hughes and angling legend Bob Nudd will also be making an appearance. Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, October 31st, 2014. All tickets purchased online will be sold at a reduced price and will include early entry to the show, automatic entry into an exclusive prize draw with over £1,500 worth of prizes – plus the option to claim various other goodies, including a free bookazine worth £9.

Stars-a-plenty at Surrey Show. The 14th annual Carp Society Winter Show is taking place this weekend (30th November and 1st December) at Sandown Park, Esher, Surrey. Although advanced tickets have now sold out, tickets are available on the door from 10am both days, with the show closing at 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. Exhibitors include Korda, Nash, Fox, Delkim, Taska, Avid Carp, Trakker, Greys, Gardener and CC Moore.

The box office for early bird tickets to this year’s CLA Game Fair, which is being held at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire from Friday, July 18th to Sunday, July 20th, is now open, giving visitors the opportunity to save £3 on tickets by booking in advance rather than paying on the gate. The best-value ticket is a three-day adult pass which costs £67 – just £22. 33 per day. Plus for the first time in the CLA Game Fair’s 55-year history, children accompanied by an adult aged 16 and under go for free!Organisers are predicting a huge turnout for this year’s event, which celebrates the Great British countryside and showcases the importance of fieldsports to the rural economy.

36-4-0 carp is new lake best. Stephen Charlesworth has set a new complex record, at the popular Cherry Lakes in Gloucestershire, after banking a 36-4-0 common carp. Complex owner, Mike Kirsch takes up the story: "Whilst enjoying some good ‘west country cider’ in the village pub, I got a call from Stephen saying he had caught a ‘good one’. ”How big” I asked? .

The new season at scarper carper’s Lac de Paix has arrived with a bang… or two! The company, which provides self-drive fishing holidays in France, has announced the capture of two huge carp, with both fish falling to the same angler. Michael Martin’s first fish was also a new lake record! ‘Starburst’ weighed in at an impressive 56lb, and was caught on Michael’s first trip to Lac de Paix. Taken on Lake Special baits, the carp has packed the weight on over the winter and is looking good on it. His second fish was another new lake record, a 45lb 3oz common! Once again, the fish was in immaculate condition.

Time is running out if you want to fish the 2014 World Carp Classic final – there are only a few places left! Held every year since 1998, this year the big event moves to Lake Bolsena, in Italy, from September 29th to October 5th. If you’d like to take part and represent the UK while competing against the best carp anglers in the world, you need to fish in the UK qualifying match, at the new Wraysbury 1, on July 24th to 27th. With a stock of around 50 originals and 350 hand-picked new fish, and recent captures to just under 50lb, this iconic fishery is definitely back on the map! There will be 20 double swims available to 40 anglers, covering the 45-acre lake. The cost of entry to the UK qualifier is £250 per pair with a maximum of four rods.
