This Saturday, May 31st, the Chapmans Angling Store in Hull sees the Fox and Matrix Open Day, hosted by top carp catchers Mark Pitchers and Tom Maker from Fox. They’ll be on hand all day to answer all questions carpy, show you the latest rigs and tactics – including zig rigs and getting the most out of PVA – guaranteed to help you put more fish on the bank, plus the very latest gear from Fox. For commercial match and pleasure anglers, Ricky Teale – top angler and the brains behind the superb Matrix range – will be there to answer any questions you have, from Method and pellet-feeder rigs and killer waggler tactics to pole fishing styles, rigs and when best to use them, as well as demonstrating all the latest Matrix rods, poles, feeders and rigs. Over the winter Wildmoor Waters has made some significant changes to the Main Lake. By separating the summer as Summer Bay, and the new heart-shaped lake now benefits from a reprofiled bottom. A number of submerged features were created as part of this exercise, as previously the bottom was quite flat, so there are now more areas to hold fish. Other advantages are that the fish density is now even higher than it was before, and the crafty carp can no longer nip over into Summer Bay, out of the reach of anglers in the lodges.

The box office for early bird tickets to this year’s CLA Game Fair, which is being held at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire from Friday, July 18th to Sunday, July 20th, is now open, giving visitors the opportunity to save £3 on tickets by booking in advance rather than paying on the gate. Dan Hawkes from FatFish Tackle proved he can walk the walk on a recent trip out with other staff from the shop. Six fish came out to 13 people… and Dan had three of them, at 27lb 2oz, 27lb 4oz and the best at 32lb 4oz.
