Watch Ian Chillcott in Passing Pond Raid for FREE! The latest issue of The Carp Channel includes a brand new episode of Chilly On Carp, in which Ian Chillcott uses all his senses to catch cool-water carp on a lake stocked by Donald Leney in the early 1960s. This time our ace is on Patching Pond in Sussex, England, one of the oldest man-made lakes in the country - dug in medieval times, and even mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It’s a shallow lake, and that’s why he fancies it for this cool water session. Chilly explains how and why he changes his approach to carping in the colder months, as he uses all his senses to suss where the venue’s carp are and works out an approach to get them competing for food despite a harsh northerly wind.

German angler banks all lakes biggest carp!Simon Wichert had a session to remember on a recent trip to a new lake, after banking all of the lakes biggest carp! The session came after a frustrating run of form for the 26 year old, who explained:“2012 was absolutely not my year, I had many setbacks and had very little motivation to go fishing. At waters near to me, the fishing was almost impossible. I was therefore delighted when I got an invitation from one of my friends to go and fish somewhere different. We started the session fishing in the deep area of the lake.

Massive French carp, and Ali Hamidi on particle baits. It has been a great week for specimen fish captures, with massive salmon, carp, cod and perch gracing anglers’ nets. Of all the above, the salmon must rank as the most impressive – a cock fish estimated at between 35lb and 50lb from the River Tweed on the Scottish border! We have the incredible story inside, straight from the ghillie’s mouth…Also, match fishing World Champion Sean Ashby had a session to remember on the first day of the recent Sensas Challenge Final, after banking a 30lb carp – on light silver-fish tackle – and we have news of a German carp angler who has been taking some startling catches on a new bait. On top of this, there is the tale of the night fisherman who was ravaged by a fox, and the tackle company that sold out of an entire range of flagship poles just two weeks after their launch!Plus we have a host of other great features, including an instructional video from top matchman Andy Kinder on how to bag up down the edge in the cold!We also have carp tackle under the spotlight, and Ali Hamidi on getting the most from particle baits.

Fish Legal secure payment for Bolton club. The Bolton Co-Operative Angling Club has received £10,000 in compensation from a farmer who polluted their coarse fishery in 2010. Thousands of carp, perch, roach and bream in Hesketh Lodge, one of the club's lakes at Astley Bridge outside Bolton, were wiped out when silage liquor from storage facilities at nearby Harricroft Farm escaped into Astley Brook which fed into the fishery. As members of Fish Legal, the Bolton Co-Operative Angling Club was able to obtain free legal representation, and approached Fish Legal after the pollution to help them claim for the cost of restocking and for their loss of amenity.
