Mr Crabtree TV Series To Hit The Screen!An exciting new fishing show premieres on Discovery Quest next Thursday. The show is based upon the 4 million selling Bernard Venables book, Mr Crabtree Goes Fishing and is the first in a series of several programmes aiming to create a modern Mr Crabtree tail. The series is the brainchild of lifelong anglers James Arnold Baker, and Lester Holcombe, who are passionate Mr Crabtree fans as well as highly experienced media professionals. Stars back scheme to get more youngsters fishing. Chris Tarrant, Bob Nudd, Keith Arthur, John Wilson and David Hall have all thrown their weight behind a new campaign, to raise money for Les Webbers Angling Projects. The award winning organisation, which aims to get kids hooked on fishing not on drugs or crime, has helped thousands of kids since its creation in 1976. The scheme founder, Les Webber is asking all anglers that visit these shows to donate just £1 and place it in one of the blue buckets which are displayed on stands around these shows.

Ticket winner forfeits place for terminally ill friend. A prize winner, who bagged himself an invite to fish Kevin Nash’s Church Lake, has given his place up to his terminally ill friend. He won the prize in a competition run by Kevin, following the launch of his first major book this Christmas. Entitled Memoirs of a Carp Fisher; The Demon Eye, the book has been massively well received and is set to be a classic.

Top carp angler is new Marketing ManagerWell known angler and current Greys & Chub Carp Academy Manager, Ed Betteridge, has been announced as Carp Marketing Manager in light of Andy Charlton stepping down from the position. Ed has been a consultant for Greys & Chub for three years and has taken on an increasing work load in that time. He is a successful big fish angler and has landed seven carp over 44lb, his current PB being a 49lb 12oz mirror known as Choco, that was banked after a three year quest on Stoneacre. Ed is also a well known angling writer and a fully qualified Level 2 Angling Coach.

Exciting start to 2013 The New Year has got off to an eventful start, with the unseasonally warm weather leading to some remarkable nets of fish. Commercial fisheries have been throwing up some enormous weights, with some remarkable catches also being taken by specimen hunters. There have also been some freak events in the animal world, including a marine seal swimming over 70 miles down a river, and into an inland lake. Then there is the ‘leaping mullet’ video, that is trending on You Tube and has already attracted almost £1.

Custom built rig making service proves popular with anglers. Internet mails order company Custom Rigz has enjoyed a successful few months business, and is looking forward to seeing the business grow further in 2013. Established in April 2012, the outfit aims to create custom built fishing rigs, for carp, coarse and specimen anglers. A statement on their website explains more about the services that they offer.
