Having been out for more than a year, we thought we would revisit these feature-packed and technologically advanced bite alarms.
Making a name by utilising Bluetooth technology, each bite alarm head can seamlessly be paired to your mobile smartphone device or tablet, keeping you at the forefront of indication. Do not fear if you feel these alarms may be a little too advanced for you and, like me, you would rather turn your phone off and fish in a more traditional manner. Each presentation case comes complete with a small receiver that offers a range of features, including individual lights, the ability to change tone and volume from the comfort of your own bivvy while also carrying out range tests.
When our own Katie Griffiths decided that she wanted a bit of help with her chucking we knew exactly who to call on… casting coach MARK HUTCHINSON.
01 - LET’S GET IT STARTED!
While it may not be the most picturesque of venues, Naseby Reservoir on the Leicestershire/Northamptonshire border is ideally suited to practise your casting, with its flat banks and huge expanse of open water. Free Spirit-backed Mark holds regular casting clinics in both group and individual formats here and, although today he’s enjoying some welcome time for his own fishing, he’s more than happy to have Katie and I pester him for some help.
First things first, and Hutch is keen to see how Katie sets up her gear, what she is using and what her current casting style looks like.
No, we haven’t got the price wrong, you can purchase this two-man bivvy for well under £200. In fact, Angling Direct has even had it cheaper than the £174. 99 we have listed here! The overwrap has also been listed cheaper, so keep your eyes peeled and check the website regularly for a real bargain. If you fancy more room to take your loved one, house your dog comfortably or just want space and room to dry off when needs be, then look no further.
The conventional brolly just got better. With a huge majority of anglers slimming down their tackle and wishing to fish short, fast, effective sessions the Lo Pro was born. With a ridiculously miniscule weight of a mere 3. 3kg, excluding pegs and bag, this is an ultra-light design that will fit in most rod quivers with ease with a length of six feet.
The duo adaptor features a bankstick thread and simple adaptor, allowing you to use the RidgeMonkey Bivvy Lite out on the bank to help illuminate your own self-take catch shots, or even if you fancy shedding some light on the social. Following the popularity of the GoPro buzz they also have an attachment for this too; you are guaranteed to get the perfect angle when returning fish or for whatever carpy video you are looking to record. The Bivvy Lite has had a great reception and if like me you have managed to lose the metal plate do not panic, you can now seamlessly attach these to the ribs of your bivvy or brolly by another simple little clamp it has on offer. £7.
At under 7kg the Superlite is exactly that – super lightweight – yet surprisingly offers great levels of comfort even for myself at just under six feet and weighing in the region of 13 stones too many. Thanks to the durable and well-constructed dual-hinge mechanism the bed folds down in a flat and very compact manner and will even take a winter sleeping bag with ease. Extra lumbar support will prevent the dreaded bedchair sag associated with extensive use. Ample padding provides you with a solid and comfortable frame to sit on and you won’t be up all night banging your arms on the supporting frame, as the RLX is a snug yet supportive night’s sleep.
Available in 15mm and 20mm variants, this is one dedicated hook bait that is sure to nick you a bite when all else fails. Utilising the unique Nash Bait two-stage Culture glaze process, each bait releases a steady stream of highly attractive complex fruit esters, aminos, nucleotides and vitamins and minerals.
£8. 99 to £9.
Kevin Nash was one of the first within the angling industry to think about suspending carp safely off the ground in a cradle-type structure, radically reducing the risk of damage during unhooking and photography. Well he has pushed the boundaries once more. Supplied with a foot pump, the Air Cradle can be inflated in seconds and deflates to a much smaller size than traditional cradle-type designs. Utilising three robust tubes, both the standard and monster sizes are capable of holding fish to over 60kg without any compromise on the protection offered.
There is no hiding away from the recent trend in getting up close and personal with your quarry utilising time and space-saving short compact setups. At the forefront of this recent craze were without doubt the Dwarf and Scope ranges from Nash. Well, furthering its claim on this market, it is proud to release the new versions of the Dwarf rod range. Starting from a miniscule 6ft 2lb model they are also available in 9ft and 10ft lengths with test curves up to 3.
