Avid Transfer Pva Bags

When compiling this month’s ‘Essentials’ feature I was drawn to explain my choice of solid bags to one of the TC team. I happily use two or three brands, but I have found these Avid bags to be my favourites.

The PVA itself is strong and the seams are extremely reliable. I have yet to have one of these bags break on me, which has definitely not been the case with some other bags I have used in the past.

Despite the reliability of the material, the breakdown rate is still good and I have used these all year round with no issues whatsoever. Residue is minimal and, as you’d expect, is only ever at the area where the bag has been tied off. This is the case with the vast majority of solid bags.

There are several sizes in the Transfer range, but I only tend to use the size 5 version. It suits the style of fishing I do as I don’t like bags that are too big. The size 5 also casts very well and can be trimmed slightly for the really big chucks. (MC)
