The addition of a coloured topper to a hook bait is undoubtedly effective and these stops from Avid combine that with the hair stop.


I only started using them when Avid produced the buoyant version. If I have a ‘sighter’ on the bait then I want it sat proud so that the carp can actually see it!

The large versions are ideal for tipping a trimmed, barrel-shaped hook bait; something that I use a lot inside bags. So far they’ve worked, particularly the yellow ones, and I like the fact that they sit nice and flush with the baits once the small ‘hook’ is drawn inside.
