Gabriel’s Fishery Complex consists of five lakes and the opportunity to fish a mile and a quarter of the beautiful banks of the River Eden, including the weir pool. The fishery is open all year round subject to natural conditions, maintenance and private hire. Please note, river fishing is subject to the Environment Agency season and licence. Admiral Lake is the big specimen lake at Gabriel’s, so if you’re after a big catch that’s the place to go.

Within one hour of arriving at a private estate lake on Saturday evening, May 10th, Solar Tackle founder Martin Locke landed this new lake record, a pristine, 27lb 8oz English estate lake mirror. Using a new, pink cream 4th Rod Special hook bait, soon to be released, coupled with a size 4 Stronghold 101 hook presented over a bed of Salty Sweet particles, Lockey wasted no time in getting to grips with the southeast venue on his first-ever visit. . .

Dan Hawkes from FatFish Tackle proved he can walk the walk on a recent trip out with other staff from the shop. Six fish came out to 13 people… and Dan had three of them, at 27lb 2oz, 27lb 4oz and the best at 32lb 4oz. All the fish came to a new nut-based bait developed by FatFish with Solar Tackle’s Martin Locke – in fact it was so new Dan only picked it up on the Sunday, used it for the first time on Monday and caught straightaway! The bait, exclusive to FatFish, is called Crunchy Nut Crème, and there will also be a new fishmeal bait out soon. For more details contact FatFish Tackle, Canterbury, on 01227 733770.
