Despite an extremely mild winter, with some cold winds on the way and even the possibility of the odd snow flutter, it might be a little soon to overlook winter clothing. We’ve checked out some new winter garments from Prologic and they are very impressive. Sold individually, both items boast an awesome PU lamination, which gives 100 per cent waterproof protection while retaining a breathability of 3. 000mvp, so as well as keeping the water out, it does its best to limit the wearer’s sweating.

We like this! The reel market has to be the most difficult to make your mark in, such has been the dominance of Shimano and Daiwa over the years. However, several companies are now finding that their products, when they get them right, are currying favour with lots of carp anglers. Having not been a huge fan of the earlier Stratos that Fox produced, I am an absolute convert in my belief since the release of the FX11 and, now, the scaled-down FX9. I have not used or tested the bigger Fox reels (12000XT and so on) so cannot comment on those, but the FX11 is an impressive performer and this follows in that reel’s footsteps.

Dan Murrell’s verdict - Unrivalled comfort, super-sturdy and lightweight. Simply brilliant. I have always been a fan of big beds. I like space and I like being able to move, and over the years I have extensively used the Nash Wideboy, and more recently the larger variety of the Avid Benchmark.

The Krill needs no introduction, such has been its phenomenal success since its launch in 2014. However, as well as the boilies, there are a host of dedicated products to go with them, one of which is this paste. I’ve always been a fan of paste because it is so versatile, but the most obvious use for it is as a boilie wrap. As such, it needs to be malleable and easy to work with but still be able to adhere to the hook bait and cope with casting and hitting the water.

We love these! RidgeMonkey’s sandwich toaster has been an absolute revelation and, although we don’t know exactly how many have been sold, we reckon that if their Instagram accounts are anything to go by, more anglers own one than don’t! With twice the capacity of the original you can cook almost anything in one. It boasts the same spec, including fluoropolymer, non-stick coating and it’s extremely easy to clean. Basically, I want one. .

great value! Ideally suiting smaller venues and lightweight setups, the Tournos 6000 is born. Following the popularity of both its larger brothers, the Tournos 10000 Big Pit and 8000 Tournos, Sonik managed to utilise its vast expertise in reel development to produce a feature-packed, superbly built and reasonably priced reel in a much smaller package. Where performance, durability and control are concerned, the Tournos 6000 ticks all the boxes. Built from a high-strength carbon composite the body and rotor has been built to last and withstand the rigours of modern-day carp angling.
