I’m always extremely wary of saying that any version is my favourite in a category of product, but I’m hard pushed to remember using a monofilament main line that has impressed me more than Exocet.

Originally recommended for its strength for each given diameter (I needed this for an extremely weedy syndicate I fished in 2015), I plumped for the 18lb version and was hugely impressed.

I’ve since asked Fox for some 16lb to use for more general fishing, such is the impression it’s made on me thus far. The 18lb surprised me most when casting. I’ve never used a line this strong that casts as well as Exocet.

I don’t fish at range, but I do use quite big PVA bags and want the reassurance that the line can cope but still send my bags out around the 100-yards mark. Oh, it also needs to stand up to the abrasion caused when fishing such weedy waters and it has done that superbly.

I honestly cannot fault this line and look forward to using it again this coming season. (MC)
