THE TACKLE BOX’S LEE JACKSON SAYS: Designed to be one of the easier nets to assemble and disassemble as well as being lightweight and easy to manoeuvre through the water. The 6ft handle has the diagonal CF-X carbon weave that matches the CF-X carp rods and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The olive green mesh has a flat-bottomed design that promotes fish safety. It’s fitted with solid composite arms that are virtually unbreakable and a British-made spreader block that has a slot for an isotope to be fitted as an optional extra.

A net is a net, surely? Well that was the premise I have always worked on; if it is big enough for the carp I am happy to use it. With that said, I took the accompanying net to my Terry Hearn Distance rods out for a play and it changed my attitude. Firstly, the aesthetics are awesome and it sits beside my rod setup seamlessly. However, let’s get it right, it’s not all about looks and it’s a personal thing whether you like its understated minimal looks, so I will leave that up to you to decide.

In keeping with the Warrior S range of rods, this landing net is big on performance and low on price. The 6ft carbon handle is light and strong and the shallow mesh will suit carp of all sizes from various venues. There’s also a 46in version available. For more information go to www.

Due to the wild nature of many places that I fish, this extending landing-net handle has done me no end of favours, usually on high, steep banks and where there is a lot of marginal vegetation. It’s also a big edge when netting fish hooked on long zigs. The length adjusts far more than others I have seen, with the total extended length a whopping 12 feet. Best of all, it stays rigid enough to make sure it’s not awkward to use.

Fishing short overnight sessions often leads me with the predicament of where to keep my wet net while trying to maintain a relatively clean car. Well since I have been using the DPM landing-net bag life has become a lot easier and a lot less smelly. I used to keep my net in my rod bag or leave it strewn across the tackle in the back. With a designated bag it can now be kept to one side and nothing else will get wet.

This is a triangular net with strong, soft, fish-friendly olive-green mesh. Available in 36in and 42in versions, these are ideal for either the specimen hunters or pleasure carp anglers. A reinforced spreader block makes it a reliable piece of kit, with a handy two-piece handle that breaks down to become the exact same size as the net, making it a doddle to store and transport and makes it a great candidate when you’re stalking or travelling light. Supplied with a nylon stink sleeve, there’s no need to ever have your car stinking of fish again or worry about your net dripping all over your luggage or back seats after a carp-filled session.

The most versatile net that I have owned and been fortunate enough to get wet. The Scope features a telescopic, lockable pole that retracts to a miniscule 44 inches and extends to a useful six feet 10 inches. Having used it to land fish from boats and on the bank when fishing extremely long zigs, this compact net has been perfect for all the fishing scenarios that I have found myself in and lends itself to mobile or static anglers alike. Performance: 9/10Value: 7/10RRP: £164.
