Top tackle on display at trade shows. On September 5th we attended the Trakker and Cygnet trade show. We saw all manner of new products that will be hitting the shelves of your tackle shop in the very near future. We were impressed by the new Cayman bivvy, available in one and two-man sizes, the two-man is massive and easily big enough for two people, great for a week abroad or for those of you who like longer sessions in comfort on the bank in the UK.

13 year old banks monster French carp and catfish. To many 13 year olds, the idea of spending a week sat at the side of a lake would seem very unappealing- but not to Brigg teenager Ben Hunt. While many lads of his age are dragged along fishing with there parents, with Ben it is the other way round- he has to talk his dad, who isn’t an angler into taking him fishing! On a recent trip to France, Bens commitment and obvious talent paid off in grand style, after he banked several fish that even a seasoned specimen hunter would be proud of. The Brigg based teenager takes up the story: “ When we got to Etang Tissier (the fishery) I had a good talk to the owner, who told me that it hadn’t been fished for two weeks, which I felt could be a very good sign! The first day passed and I was beginning to doubt it though, as I had no fish! My first run came at 6am on the Sunday morning, but unfortunately I lost it when it went round a clump of rushes.

Monster carp for Belgian ace. Having targeted two big mirror carp for the past couple of years without success, the last thing that Belgian ace Roger Smit expected was to bank them both in the same session! In a remarkable day, Roger took the first target fish, a 42lb 12oz (19. 4kg) mirror, just five minutes after starting. Unbelievably, he took the fish on his first ever cast using Club Mix boilies, with the second target fish, another mirror this time of 38lb 6oz (17.

Fish found dead at Essex Lake. Nash Tackle boss Kevin Nash told of his distress at the death of two fifty pound fish from his Essex water big fish water, Church Pool. The report comes just days after news of an oxygen crash which saw a total of six fish die, following an algae bloom. He told Angling News Week: “Contrary to popular belief, it is not actually the algae bloom that kills the fish, but as the micro organisms die they draw the oxygen from the water –which is what causes levels to crash.
