New laws effect five aquatic plants. Five varieties of non-native, aquatic plants are to be banned from being sold in the UK, the government has announced. It is hoped that the ban will help protect vulnerable aquatic habitats – saving the UK economy £1. 7 billion per year.

Great Northern Fishing show in jeopardy, but Fish O Mania will go ahead. The Great Northern Fishing Show, which accompanied the famous Fish O Mania event aired live on Sky Sports, looks unlikely to run in 2013 following a bust up between show bosses. The show organiser, and former Cudmore Fisheries boss, Cyril Brewster has left his post, following a row with land owner, Edward Mainwaring. A press release to exhibitors from Cyrils’ wife, Sue Brewster stated: “Due to matters beyond Cyril’s control he will not be running the Great Northern Fishing Show at Cudmore Fisheries this year during Fish O Mania.

Polish Anglers Association offer free rules translation service to angling clubs The Polish Anglers Association in the UK will translate into Polish the rules of any angling club as a free contribution to better integration between Polish and British anglers. The idea came from the Angling Trust's 'Building Bridges' officer Radoslaw Papiewski and his colleague Pawel Nycz. Rado explained: "Through the Building Bridges project we have made great strides in educating Polish anglers in the rules, regulations and customs that govern fishing over here. However, there will always be some anglers who need help understanding not only the EA by-laws about catch and release but also the specific club rules that are in place.

Deadly winter carp tactics uncovered on film!England Carp Team member, Dan Wildbore has built an enviable record for catching carp in conditions when others fail to get so much as an indication – but not even he could believe just how well his latest feature for Total Carp magazine went!His brief was to catch a carp in daylight hours from a fishery of his choice – and he more than rose to the challenge, catching almost 20 fish on a range of interesting tactics. New dates confirmed for British Carp Angling Show!The unfortunate weather conditions in Norfolk meant that the British Carp & Angling Show, which was supposed to run last weekend, has had to reschedule for a less snowy day. The organiser has now confirmed that the new show will be running over the weekend of 16th-17th March 2013. They explained: "We will be honouring all past tickets and vouchers at the new event. Much of our line-up will remain the same with Nash and Korda already confirming their attendance once again, John Wilson and Bob Nudd are still on our celebrity guest list.

Floodwater subsides at Oxfordshire Lake. One of the countries most popular and famous big carp waters, Richworth Linear Fisheries, near Stanton Hardwick in Oxfordshire is to reopen its gates. The fishery closed after weeks of rainfall caused several of the lakes to rise above the platforms, making them dangerous for anglers to fish. A statement on the fishery website explained: “Linear can confirm that the measures taken after the summer floods of 2007, to prevent fish loss, have worked well and no fish have been able to pass through the catch fencing barriers or transfer between the three waters.

HRH praises British ingenuity. His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales visited Liverpool on Monday, tying in a visit to well known rod manufacturer, Harrison Advanced rods. In a speech presented in the morning, the prince warned that Britain was in danger of relinquishing its world class reputation if more young people were not attracted into the industries. “He said: "Too often it seems forgotten in this country that Britain is very good at manufacturing and has all sorts of remarkable skills of ingenuity and inventiveness”"As a country, we are rightly proud of our industrial heritage and we should also celebrate our continued success as a standard-bearer for quality manufacturing and engineering throughout the world.

But the owners sell off old stock at massive discount! On the 3rd January, North West Angling Centre Ltd went into Voluntary Liquidation. Fortunately, the business was soon acquired by new owners, who have found themselves with over £500,000 worth of stock to get rid of!The old stock is now being sold with up to 75% discount, and more and more liquidation stock is being released on a daily basis with some absolute bargains available to punters! The new owners explained “NWAC was once famous for its size, with a turnover in excess of £5 million in its past years.
