Dan Murrell’s verdict - I’m looking forward to further tests with these.
These are as similar in pattern to my favoured 360 hooks (sadly, no longer available) as I’ve seen, so I borrowed them for ‘review’ before anybody else could! I like big hooks, so therefore tied up some 360s with the size 4 in conjunction with a size 11 ring swivel.
The weight of the two allows me to not use any putty – the fewer components the better in my opinion – and it all balances perfectly. So far, so good – the rig has worked and a couple of carp that I’ve caught on them have been well nailed.
Marc Coulson’s verdict - Early signs are extremely good. 3. 5/5
Okay, first things first, I have only actually had these out a handful of times because my fishing doesn’t warrant their use at the moment. Small waters and wary carp do not respond to thrashing the water to a foam with a marker and then spodding over the top.
PUKKA!I know we’re only in July but these bobbins are already making a play for product of the year, in my opinion.
I was first privy to them when visiting ESP HQ, where I was allowed to see the CNC machines actually turning the acrylic and PTFE heads and many of the stainless components. That’s right, made in the UK, for the largest part.
It was a seriously impressive operation and every piece that came out was identical to the last and perfect to the nth degree.
we love these!
After so many years taking delivery of new baits, it can become a little bit uninspiring sometimes. However, this month I’ve had two baits land in the office that have each stopped me in my tracks. One is this Catalyst from the very much up and coming Spotted Fin.
The moment I opened the box I caught the delicious aroma and this drew me to inspect it further.
The unmistakable yellow strap of the Vass waders is a common sight in the angling press and on the banks. Now, quite cleverly we think, Vass has taken it to the next level by adding it to these new T-shirts.
They are full cotton, which is pre-shrunk so will maintain its size when washed, and available in a range of colours. They feature the Vass logo on the chest, which is printed on all versions except the camou, where it is embroidered, as well as that yellow faux strap that you can see in the picture.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, one of the most famous bait companies of all is causing a bit of stir as it makes a big comeback in the UK.
As well as the established and hugely successful favourites, such as Trigga and Big Fish Mix, there are a host of top-quality ingredients, proprietary products and hooks baits.
These alternative hook baits are well rolled and bright in appearance, and are available in a host of flavours. They’re barrel shaped to add a bit of variety and extremely buoyant, with a nod to the modern trend for chod-rig fishing.
