One more sleep until the Nash Mega Social weekend, an angling experience organised in order to support research into KHV to help protect future the generations of angling. The money used to purchase the tickets for the weekend was put towards funding research into the genetics of KHV, taking the first step towards breeding carp which are resistant to the virus. Preparation is critical prior to any session, especially when you face a new challenge on a new water. Hours of tying rigs ready for all situations it was essential to find some more information on the water; catch reports and photos of the lake were reviewed and I even managed to get my hands on information regarding water depths for each swim.

Marv Wait looks at how to make the most of fishing the public waterways, which many anglers shy away from too often. However, with enough effort, it’s possible to unlock some of the jewels. When many people talk about fishing big waters they often refer to large, windswept gravel pits and the like. However, most fail to notice that canals are some of the largest carp waters in the country.

Carp hauler Steve Cliff reveals a devastating rig that he has been using for over a year and has accounted for an incredible number of carp… Ever since I can remember I kept changing pop-up rigs; I have never been able to settle on something that I have a great deal of confidence in. Most of my fishing has been done with small 12mm pop-ups balanced, but there is certainly a time and place for using pop-ups. I have spent years trying to find something that is low to the lake bed, doesn’t involve relying on putty or fiddling around with stiff materials and which works exactly how I want it to. The spinner sits perfectly on the bottom It all started when I had a look at some of the new products from Korda.

Lee ‘Mozza’ Morris shares some of his finest tips for catching carp up in the water on the often-overlooked tactic of zig-rig fishing During spring and early summer zig rigs can be an incredibly effective method and one that will often outfish any other tactic that you have at your disposal. In recent years a lot has been written about the use of zigs and countless sections on DVDs and films on YouTube have covered their use, yet still, the vast majority of carp anglers do not use them. Why? Well, I’m not really sure. Laziness? Maybe.

For as long as there has been fishing I am pretty sure there has been night fishing, and as a result, there has always been a need to keep comfortable on the bank throughout this period. Over the years, roll mats, lilos, sun loungers, canvas and metal structures all have been used to sleep on, and in more recent years we have seen a fundamental shift to level flat-bed chairs with all manner of luxurious and comfortable materials ensuring you the best night’s sleep on the bank. We have seen it all, so I thought, but that was until I went to Trakker! Shape is one thing all of the above beds have in common, boasting the typical and traditional rectangular bedlike shape – and why not, I hear you ask? Well, take a look at the first bedchair to break the mould and bring to the market a revolutionary oval system. First and foremost Trakker is renowned for good beds, and having had great success and gaining huge popularity out on the banks with the Levelite range you can expect extreme comfort, unrivalled support and, of course, a flat profile, which is definitely becoming the norm for obvious reasons.
