The team at Total Carp were lucky enough to be invited out with the guys from Wychwood in order to be the first to showcase their brand new 2020 spring launch. Here we reveal some of the key items in the new range and, what’s more, the majority are available now!

The release sees an extension to the already established Tactical range, which is aimed at the more minimal, mobile angler, while also introducing the Comforter range aimed at the long-stay angler and those who prefer their creature comforts while on the bank.

TACTICAL BIVVY
RRP: £249.99

The Tactical Bivvy is a plus-sized one-man shelter. Thanks to its unique square design, it provides ample usable space inside despite a relatively compact footprint. The bivvy features a three-ribbed, pramhood design with an inbuilt peak and the poles have just two breaks for a rapid setup.

The bivvy also has two large rear mesh vents and comes complete with a full zip-in solid front, heavy duty groundsheet and pegs. Numerous front options and an overwrap are also available separately.

TACTICAL BROLLY

A really compact, lightweight seven-ribbed brolly designed with the mobile angler in mind. It utilises a 55in lightweight frame, while the flat back ensures a bedchair can be positioned towards the rear of the brolly for maximum protection from the elements. Supplied as the brolly on its own, it can be converted into a full brolly system, with a heavy duty groundsheet, full solid front or mozzy front all available separately. A truly versatile bit of kit, which looks fantastic in the camou and green combination that spans the Tactical range.

COMFORTER LUGGAGE RANGE

Wychwood has also released a range of luggage items under the Comforter branding. This comprises a small rucksack, mid-sized and larger carryalls, the modular-style session cool bag and also a quiver and rod sleeves. These are well thought out and designed luggage items, all produced in a 600D green outer fabric with bespoke zips and rugged Duraflex clips and buckles. These are all designed to work in conjunction with the recently released EVA range providing a fully customisable luggage solution.

COMFORTER FLATBED & ARMCHAIR

Following the success of the Tactical Flatbed, Wychwood has designed the Comforter Flatbed with exactly that in mind – comfort. Featuring much higher levels of padding and a luxurious fleece-lined mattress, this is a heavier but more comfortable and supportive bed to ensure the best night’s sleep.

The Comforter Flatbed features a flat profile and full, adjustable lumbar support so you don’t wake up with a bad back. With its steel frame and double reinforced hinges, it weighs in at 10kg, which really isn’t too heavy considering the comfort.

The matching armchair is aimed at the angler who requires a comfortable and supportive chair, while also providing a reclining function. You could quite easily enjoy an afternoon nap on this beast.

SLEEPING BAGS AND BED COVERS

Wychwood has delivered a sleeping bag and matching bed cover for both the Comforter and Tactical ranges. Both bags are constructed from a 240T ripstop, breathable material and utilise four-chamber hollow fill insulation for warmth.

The Comforter range utilises a fleece lining and is finished in the corresponding green, while the Tactical bag and cover feature a smooth lining and camou finish. The bags weigh in at 3.75kg for the Comforter sleeping bag, while the Tactical bag weighs a mere 2kg; great for those anglers looking to cut down their kit.

TACTICAL POD KIT

A simple yet highly versatile bankware solution, offering the options of a rod pod, single sticks, or horizontal bars with uprights when combined with the stabilizers. The Tactical Pod Kit consists of three 9in sticks, three 12in sticks, 9in and 10in bars, an adjustable centre bar, two stabilisers and a carry case.

RIOT 45S & 55S Reels

Based on the well-received Riot Big Pits, the 45S and 55S models provide a smaller, more compact offering for use with shorter 9 and 10ft rods. These front drag reels are finished in a gloss black finish, with minimal gold detailing and wooden handles making them pleasing to the eye.

The reels feature 6+1 bearings for a smooth retrieve, and reliable and smooth multi-pitch drag which is semi-quick to allow precise adjustments to be made quickly.

TACTICAL FISHCARE

Wychwood has also released a range of new fishcare products under the Tactical range, providing great protection for your catch while retaining a minimal pack size.

A large walled mat provides complete peace of mind while handling fish on the bank, with its sturdy walls and 60mm high density foam base padding. Based on the original walled mat, the entire mat folds into a compact unit for transportation.

For those who don’t require such a large mat, there is also the Tactical Sling Mat, which is a zip-up folding mat, perfect for stalking and travelling light.

Finally, the Tactical floating weigh sling features a fish friendly mesh and four reflective floats to allow your capture to be retained for short periods while you organise all the necessary kit.

The Retention Sling folds in half to minimise pack size and comes supplied in its own roll top carry bag.
