Solar boss joins prestigious clubFounder and owner of Solar Tackle, Martin Locke, has been inducted into carp fishing’s hall of fame for his services to carp fishing. Presented with his certificate at the 2013 Carpin’ On show by Tim Paisley, himself a hall of fame member, Martin’s name now appears in the history books alongside many of carp fishing most important figures including Richard Walker, Rod Hutchinson, Jack Hilton, Pete Springate and Terry Hearn to name but a few. Martin first hit the headlines in the 1980s with the capture of Sally, a 39lb common from Savay, the picture of which is still used as the Solar logo today. Landing his first fifty, the famous Chop Dorsal, from a day-only Hertfordshire Club Water in in December 1994, Martin went on to land the colossal common known as Benson before landing a world record in the form of a 94lb mirror in 2010 and landing his 100th 50lb+ carp in 2012, Martin’s angling career alone is enough to warrant entry into the history books.

New premises for particle bait manufacturer. “I am in a very fortunate position, as I am able to manufacture carp bait, and sell it direct to the public – meaning there is no third party taken a chunk of the profits – and I can offer it to the punter at a very reasonable price. ”These were the words of Del Keane, owner of Essex based particle manufacturer, Hooked On Baits. Del has just moved in to new premises in Doddinghurst in Essex, meaning customers can visit him and collect the bait directly.

Cultured Carp Baits throw their weight behind cancer charity initiative!Cultured Carp Baits, supplier of high quality baits across the UK and France, have teamed up with ‘Carp Aid’ to support a range of carp fishing events aimed at raising vital funds in the battle against cancer. ‘Carp Aid’ is the newest arm of the ‘Match Aid’ charity, an organisation set up by Richard Anderson last year after losing two people to cancer who were very close to his heart. Match Aid raises money for cancer research through fishing matches and due to its success Richard made the decision to expand the charity into the world of carp angling. The man responsible for setting up ‘Carp Aid’ is David Cawsey; “I’m ecstatic about having the opportunity to work for a cancer charity and help give back to the people who helped to care for my mum who died of cancer almost two years ago and to those who helped my wife in her successful battle against cancer last year.

Carp to 38lb on offer at Hasting's holiday park! Shoals of new guests arrived at a top Hastings holiday park today - though they have gone straight into hiding, and hope to enjoy a free stay for the rest of the year without getting caught. The risk, however, is very real - for the newcomers to Coghurst Hall Holiday Park are a 500lb consignment of frisky fish which have now been released into the park's historic carp lake!The mainly mirror and ghost carp will be joining many more mature specimens in the beautiful four-acre lake, including a substantial number weighing in at over 30lbs. Last year's prize catch by a holiday guest tipped the scales at an impressive 38lb 12oz. Coghurst Hall's picturesque waters have provided a first-class challenge for anglers for over two centuries - but for much of this time, fishing here has been the preserve of a privileged few.

Adventure angler Steve Townson achieved a lifelong ambition when he landed this massive wild arapaima estimated at 250+lbs from Middle River Essequibo in Guyana, South America. Steve, who runs the UK-based company, South American angling holiday specialists Amazon-Angler. com, caught the mighty fish, plus another weighing around 150lb on a whole 2lb piranha bait using a 100lb mono rubbing leader, 100lb Power Pro braid mainline and an 8/0 Cat Circle hook.
