Vision Kashkym Two Man Pro Dome

I’d never used a two-man bivvy before, so when I was asked to test-review this one from Vision I was intrigued. I’ve seen some two-man bivvies in use and they always struck me as far too big.

Thanks to the aluminium components and compact shape when in the bag, it’s surprisingly easy to handle and wasn’t as cumbersome as I suspected.

Once erected, I was pleasantly surprised that although it has a two-man capacity it is not overly big. Sure, two guys could fish from it, but it’s possibly more suited to one angler and their partner or child, perhaps, who will not have loads of gear with them.

I actually prefer this because it also makes it ideal for the lone angler, like me, who appreciates a bit more room. It would be brilliant for winter sessions or trips to France.

Effectively, the Kashkym is two shelters in one because the complete inner pod wards off creepy-crawlies as well as forming a natural twin-skin setup, ideal for stopping any condensation.

It’s easy to erect, taking around two minutes, and it also packs away easily. All of the usual features abound, such as peak, heavy-duty groundsheet and mozzie options on the door. The Windtex material remains taut in all conditions and it’s extremely durable and watertight.

So far I have used this three times, all on the river, where it fits quite nicely into my usual swim. I have to say that I am impressed, much more than I thought I would be when first faced with such a full-on shelter compared with my usual brolly!
