Lake Description

Tucked away from the everyday rat race, you will find yourself immersed in an angler’s haven, with a mixture of fish to target in peaceful surroundings. The main draw for anglers are definitely the mixture of chestnut commons and stunning mirror carp that range to well over 25lb. Multiple captures are not uncommon and the action can be prolific at times, when the fish turn up on you and decide to feed. For the most part, anglers who fish for a single bite first, and then bait their swim accordingly will see success but always keep your eyes peeled for natural feeding hot spots, with carp fizzing and showing.

Depths range from three to eight feet throughout the lake, and for those keen enough with a marker float or a leading rod there are several underwater features to be found. Substrates throughout Hurlston Hall Fishery include silt and gravel, and various silt gulleys, gravel bars and even sunken stumps can be located and utilised to intercept moving fish or baited accurately to entice the carp to feed.

The fish at Hurlston Hall Fishery are fed on house boilies and house pellets to ensure the right nutrients are being fed to them promoting optimal health and good growth. Since implementing the feeding programme, anglers have found utilising these baits produces multiple captures and quick bites.

Proven tactics over recent years include PVA mesh bags of crushed boilies or pellets fished over a mix of boilies and pellets. Wafter and bottom bait baits seem to produce numbers of fish for the regulars. However, do not be afraid to regularly change hook bait colour to entice a bite, as often a change of hook bait can bring a quick take.

Top Tip: Use the house boilies and pellets for best results.
