As an avid user of Proper Job’s excellent hook baits, which are always brilliantly rolled and boast superb flavour ranges, I was excited when these two new versions landed at TC towers. The first tub we opened were the Scopex & Strawberry, a combination that seems less popular than it once was but which is a devastating bait, especially in cold conditions. They smell terrific, which isn’t always a barometer that they’ll work, but I know that Kevin Heal at PJPU uses only the best flavour/attractor combinations so I have no doubt that these will be effective. Second up is the wonderful Chocolate Orange, which is an absolute winner.
Since having a few samples of these to test, I have the distinct feeling that I am going to be spending some serious money on them. I’d seen loads of top anglers using these baits, so I decided that I had to give them a try. My only regret now is that I didn’t do so years ago. They are superb in every sense.
A firm favourite of our editor, Proper Job Pop-Ups are well used by many tip anglers. They’re extremely buoyant and contain proper attractors and additives, not just a pop-up mix and synthetic flavour. Kevin at Proper Job told us that this new one has the most ingredients he has ever put into a bait, which must really be saying something. He showed us the list and it is mightily impressive – these are no normal baits! We were sent three sample pots, in white, washed-out pink and washed-out camou brown, each in mixed shapes and sizes.
I’ve long been a fan of the PJPU range of pop-ups and use them extensively in my fishing. When these two flavours landed on my desk I immediately thought: “Winter winners”. They’re both from PJPU’s classic range of flavour combinations and each smells absolutely fantastic. The Tutti Frutti is an absolute classic and is available in a range of sizes in orange, yellow, off-white and magenta.

The original Tutti Frutti boilies have arguably accounted for as many carp captures as any other bait, ever. Praise doesn’t come any higher than that. However, the entire range has been given a tweak that should make it more effective than ever. Introducing the new Dark Tutti.
As a long-time fan of Richworth’s Tutti Frutti I kind of knew already that I’d like these hook baits. Basically, it’s the same tutti flavour but now rolled in differently coloured pop-ups, a selection of which come in each tub. They’re buoyant, smell great and have a track record already that speaks for itself. Oh, and don’t make the mistake of thinking that Tutti Frutti is only a winter bait either; it’s a great year-round option.
