Dan Murrell’s verdict - Unrivalled comfort, super-sturdy and lightweight. Simply brilliant. I have always been a fan of big beds. I like space and I like being able to move, and over the years I have extensively used the Nash Wideboy, and more recently the larger variety of the Avid Benchmark.

There aren’t many bedchairs that are as comfortable as your bed, but the Flatliner certainly falls into that category. When folded out the perfectly flat profile allows me to use the full width of the bedchair to sleep. This is done by the Flip cam system that allows the cam to be flipped 180 degrees out of harm’s way. The bedchair combines a padded mattress and even flow elastic that gives me plenty of support when out on the bank.

HOT OFF THE PRESS! Again boasting most of the R1’s features, including camou trim, cam wheel, adjustable legs but this time with additional neoprene-covered armrests for even more comfort. If you have never owned or tried a chair with arms then you really don’t know what you’re missing. Just this simple addition transforms a chair’s comfort levels and can make it worth the extra investment, albeit there is obviously a little added weight. The back is slightly higher than the R1, creating a hybrid chair that might be the answer to lots of carp anglers’ prayers.

If you need some extra space on the barrow, or have grown tired of lugging around a large, heavy bedchair, then this could be the solution you are looking for. Designed with comfort and convenience in mind, the Stealth X-Lite weighs a staggeringly minimal 6. 7kg. Constructed from Aerospace-grade aluminium, this lightweight bedchair doesn’t compromise on strength and has been rated to accommodate an angler weighing in excess of 130kg.

If you don’t compromise on comfort, even if you have to pay a relatively princely sum for it, then this chair is going to be right up your street. For starters, the padded mattress not only offers a soft, thick area for seating, but the adjustable lumbar support makes a huge difference to not only the comfort of the chair itself, but how long you’re happy sitting in it. The head/neck rest is an excellent additional touch and not one that I’ve seen on a carpy chair thus far and, of course, the fact that it reclines means you choose your own position. Although available in a standard size, this Big Daddy version is the one for comfort, if you don’t mind the size.

When we heard that the Sleep Easy came with a 28-stone weight limit, we shrugged our shoulders and said: “That will be heavy then. ”Well, by utilising an exclusive aircraft lightweight frame, not only is strength imperative but at 11. 5kg it’s not as heavy as we first thought.
