The Inspire SLR bivvy from Prologic!

The importance of being efficient with our time cannot be overstated, and the fast-paced world in which we live has seen the development of some truly extraordinary products over the years. As one of the largest items of tackle we are likely to bring fishing with us, our shelters ensure we are comfortable during a day session, overnighter or multiple night stay. Yet it is the little things that make their use either enjoyable or frustrating. With the announcement of the new Inspire SLR Bivvy from Prologic, there appear to be a wide number of features that will see anglers enjoy their time spent on the bank all the more.

Prologic is very proud to relay that its latest shelter releases follow four years of development. It is also confident in saying that no stone has been left unturned in order to create the ultimate quick erect bivvy. The name SLR stands for Spring Loaded Reflex, which is understandably the headline feature for the range as the system allows for super-fast erection. A fan-style system of poles therefore means in adverse weather conditions, or when time really isn’t on your side, you can be sure to have a roof over your head in seconds. The frame itself is constructed from aluminium, a material that lends itself to a high degree of strength whilst reducing the total combined weight. What is most impressive about the system is that the peak requires no faff, unlike many other shelters that require you to thread a fiddly pole to eventually connect in a questionable manner. The SLR peak system has been carefully designed to ensure water is channelled away from the front of the bivvy. This therefore means you can store equipment at the front of the shelter with the door open, and puddles will no longer be found at the foot of the bivvy.

What separates one bivvy from another is the quality of material used to protect the user from the elements. Prologic’s own Pro-Tex fabric is highly breathable, ever so durable and features an anti-glare finish. The incredible 20,000mm hydrostatic head offers the very best in waterproof technology whilst remaining lightweight. A fully removable front infill is provided together with a mosquito mesh, which can be easily interchanged dependent on the time of year. Fish spotting from the comfort of the bivvy is significantly enhanced when neither infill is in use, thanks to the generously wide opening.

Aside from the panoramic views, ventilation is further enhanced with the installation of four extra-large mosquito mesh windows, which can be revealed via zips. There is a window located on each side of the bivvy, including two at the rear. No longer will those long summer days be insufferable inside a shelter but instead you can find some relief from the intensity of the sun with a cooling draught from the increased air exchange. Another important aspect of the Inspire SLR is the supplied condenser wrap, which acts as a shield sitting on top of the shelter. This helps to prevent condensation build-up, which can cause all sorts of annoyances when lakeside. The way in which the condensing system works is through acting like that of an insulating barrier, allowing the hot air inside that rises to cool far more slowly. The vents also work in perfect unison to create the perfect air space inside the shelter, depending on the conditions and time of year.

The space inside the Inspire SLR Bivvy is more than generous, boasting dimensions of 275cm in width, 240cm in depth and 150cm in height. The height is most advantageous, as sitting inside on the side of your bedchair or separate seating arrangement means that your head will have plenty of clearance. This one-man shelter also comes supplied with a heavy duty groundsheet, which is fixed or removed via heavy duty zips as opposed to the likes of Velcro. With this method, any unwelcome guests are deterred from entering, include surface water. The whole package fits neatly into the heavy duty carry bag, which ensures the bivvy remains in fantastic shape, with a transport size of just 135cm in length and 25cm width.

Available from April 1st 2023, be sure to check in at any Prologic stockist, safe in the knowledge that the Inspire SLR Bivvy has been thoroughly tested and includes a whole host of features to make your stay at any venue a complete joy.
