There are undoubtedly some good pods out there and there are certainly some cheaper ones too. However, I challenge anybody to find one better than this.
Okay, it’s a lot of money, but you absolutely get what you pay for. Precision British engineering in top-quality stainless steel means that this pod will literally last you a lifetime.
Lee Jackson’s verdict - The perfect carp rod. I love these and use them all the time. 5/5
The Tackle Box’s Lee Jackson says: Having been involved with Free Spirit from the very start and having worked for The Tackle Box for something like 28 years, there have always been little ‘tweaks’ that I have built into my own rods that I prefer to the standard versions.
The Python rod is no exception.

GREAT VALUE! This abbreviated-handle variation of Wychwood’s hugely popular 101 series of rods is available in a limited run and only for a certain period of time.
Once they’re gone that’s it, so I guess they are a limited edition carp rod, and all for under £60 each.
As with the C-101 and D-101, with their cork and Duplon handles, respectively (see what they’ve done there?) they boast extremely impressive blanks for a carp rod in this price range.
Never has a carp rod represented more obviously the boundaries that are constantly being pushed in this ‘budget’ price bracket and the results are extremely impressive.
Dan Murrell’s verdict - An absolute joy to use and I have no complaints yet. Superb! 5/5
Having used big pits for what seems like forever, I have to be honest and say I was a little dubious about stepping away from one of the more prominent, well-established brands and trying these out. How wrong was I? They have been exceptional.
I have used these for over three months, clocking up somewhere in the region of probably over 500 fishing hours, and I am yet to find something I do not like.

Many modern carp anglers look for ease of use in a product, and why not? With limited time on the bank you don’t want to waste it setting things up when you could be looking for fish or getting those rods in the water. This is why brollies have come back in fashion, but they aren’t very good when used as a long-term session shelter.
Bridging the gap between convenience, ease of use and unrivalled weather protection, the XTI Supadome was born.
Erected in no time via a push brolly-type system, the Supadome provides a large internal footprint capable of housing all your tackle, food and more while out on the bank.
It was brought home just how popular this product was at this year’s Carp In The Park and having had a closer look it’s clear to see why.
As a dual-purpose product it brings plenty of features to what would normally be a general product. The all-encompassing bivvy light offers adjustable cool white light and three separate grades of red, ideal for when the mozzies are out but you still need illumination in the bivvy. Offering up to 60 hours’ battery life from a single charge, the Hobo Glow also benefits from a power bank function, helping you to keep any electrical devices alive while out on the bank utilising a single USB port.
