Mixed opinions as concern over future of historic waters grows.
As concern over the future of some of the UK’s most loved waters grows, the news that the Angling Trust has made moves to help the situation in our sport’s favor has come as some comfort to anglers up and down the country. Yesterday the Trust revealed that it has been in discussions with the agent tasked with selling a list of famous Cemex Angling waters to act as a ‘middle man’, brokering deals between the sellers and interested angling parties. However, despite what is generally viewed as positive news, not everyone is convinced that this will be enough to save waters, which include Burfield, Frimley and Yateley amongst other historic venues.

Take a friend fishing for free and get them into angling.
The Take a Friend Fishing promotion is back for 2012 giving anglers the chance to show a friend or family member the magic of fishing for free. A campaign to introduce more would-be anglers to the sport, the promotion gives individuals the chance to get a day licence for the sport, that would usually cost £3. 75, free of charge.
Things are looking good and I’m itching to get back out on the bank any day now. I ventured over to a special lake on a glorious winter’s day that felt more like spring. The sun was beaming onto the surface and birds were singing. I had a quick walk to see if I could pinpoint any carp and, lo and behold, one jumped.
Angling Trust makes moves to save historic waters for future of our sport. Angling’s governing body has announced it is working hard to try and secure the future of some of our sport’s most cherished waters. Following the recent shock news that Cemex Angling is to wind up its operations and place its vast portfolio of waters up for sale, the Angling Trust has revealed it is to enter talks with the agent charged with selling off some of the most historic angling venues in the country. Including such gems as Burghfield, Yateley, Frimley and the Roach Pit, the Trust is looking to try and save the waters by acting as a ‘middle man’, helping to broker deals for the venues between interested angling parties and the agent, FennWright.

Fishing the new Nash Zig Bugs on two rods, Jerry spent a fish-less night at the venue before a switch of swim to target deeper water changed his fortunes.
