Famous French specimen comes to the bank for Nash man. France’s famous Les Graviers holds some of the biggest carp in the world, including the infamous Scar Fish – a specimen that once dominated the global record top spot at just shy of 100lb. But it was the second biggest resident of the complex’s Main Lake that made the trip of Nash field tester Paul Crocker to the venue more than worthwhile recently, when the mighty mirror graced his net at an incredible 86lb 5oz. Paul, who last year banked the Scar Fish, fooled his latest Les Graviers whopper using 20mm Nash Scopex Squid Liver boilies presented over a bed of 100 boilies per fish at a range of 180 yards.

Monster carp tops amazing run for angler targeting new venue. Gleaming, pristine and weighing in at an impressive 49lb, this big common is the highlight of a run of fish that has seen angler George Benos bank no less than 11 fish over 30lb in just a few weeks. Having joined a new southern water in June this year, George started his campaign with a dream session, baiting an area heavily to land five mirrors all over 30 and topped off by a fish of 41lb. Returning a week later, he did it again, fishing a two nighter and banking six fish - five over 30 with a 44 also coming to the net.

Wychwood angler’s run of form sees quartet of best fall in weeks. Four personal bests in a row is not a run of fish to be sniffed at, and a figure that has given Wychwood-backed rod Roy Russell a couple of weeks to remember. The venue for the 43-year-old’s amazing run was Oxfordshire’s Richworth Linear complex, where Roy had smashed his PB carp twice in one session on his last trip with fish of 39lb and 40lb 2oz. Keen to get back and chance his arm again, the Walsall-based carper’s latest trip to Manor Farm Lake (the day-ticket scene of the previous session) saw him do the double again, this time with a new PB carp of 41lb 4oz and a welcome surprise of a tench weighing in at a whopping 10lb 4oz.

Inviting angling CVs from carpers across the country to apply for the position, the Bait-Tech team were overwhelmed by the quality of the response they got. After finding it too hard to make a final decision it was decided that the winner would be chosen in the best way possible – a fish off, as Bait-Tech;s Business Development Director, Hayley Goldsmith explains:“With the standard so very high we simply couldn’t pick a winner until we had seen them all in action,” said Hayley.

Eagle-eyed readers will have noticed an error in this month’s Total Carp magazine. Somehow, in Kevin Hewitt’s feature on the Method, we managed to duplicate the words from his brilliant piece on PVA bags from the previous issue. We’re sorry for this, but to soften the blow we’ve printed the entire, correct, version right here. We think you’ll agree, it’s well worth a read.
