Famous Linear fish captured on film. Danny Macdivitt has this week landed the famous Jordan from Linear Fisheries Hardwick Lake- and captured the whole thing on film!Dan Pre-baited a margin spot with Hinders Little Gemz Pellets & Pellet Combo, both soaked in Salmon Pro Liquid, mixed with a few chopped Mainline Cell Boilies which he fed by hand. He fished a small solid PVA bag filled with the same Free offerings, with a single Cell boilie on the hair. The fish set a new PB for Dan, weighing in at 32lb 3oz.
With more anglers fishing overnight sessions, and longer, we’re all looking to make our trips as comfortable as possible. One way of doing this is by eating and drinking well and for that you need decent equipment. There is a plethora of cooking kit available to the modern carp angler, both from tackle companies and specialist outdoor retailers, but few collections are as comprehensive as this new Tukka stuff from Vision. There’s literally everything you need here, and more.
The addition of a coloured topper to a hook bait is undoubtedly effective and these stops from Avid combine that with the hair stop. I only started using them when Avid produced the buoyant version. If I have a ‘sighter’ on the bait then I want it sat proud so that the carp can actually see it!The large versions are ideal for tipping a trimmed, barrel-shaped hook bait; something that I use a lot inside bags. So far they’ve worked, particularly the yellow ones, and I like the fact that they sit nice and flush with the baits once the small ‘hook’ is drawn inside.
When asked if I could review these syrups it was a no-brainer. After all, I’ve been using them since the first ones were launched several years ago. These days the New Grange is the one that’s used most in my carp fishing because I use that variety of boilies a lot and the addition of the syrup to particles, and even pellets, helps me create a total baiting attack. The syrups are packed with attractors and improve the profile of any particle mix.
Designed to be true all-rounders, I can confirm that they are exactly this, and brilliant at it too. I’ve been using the 2. 75lb versions and, excluding fishing at 100 yards plus, I can’t think of any reason why I would not continue to do so. The progressive, through action is right up my street and it makes for an exhilarating fight every time a carp is hooked.
I’d never used a two-man bivvy before, so when I was asked to test-review this one from Vision I was intrigued. I’ve seen some two-man bivvies in use and they always struck me as far too big. Thanks to the aluminium components and compact shape when in the bag, it’s surprisingly easy to handle and wasn’t as cumbersome as I suspected. Once erected, I was pleasantly surprised that although it has a two-man capacity it is not overly big.
