French Lake Plans 'big Feed!'

Exciting Times Ahead At Clearwater
Autumn has well and truly arrived at Clearwater Lakes. The temperature has dropped, the deer are on the run and the local hunt are out and about at weekends. Though the main fishing season is over , bookings are rapidly filling up for next year-  and now is the turn of the fishery staff to make sure that everything is as good as it can be for 2013.

While the lakes are quiet, the hard work begins . The teams major project for this year is to cut back some of the snags around the lake edge. Some cover around the lake is necessary as the fish love somewhere quiet to hang out, so the trick is to keep the site clear for anglers while leaving enough growth to keep the fish happy. Any dead or dying trees which might be dangerous need to be removed, swims need to be tidied and the lake beds raked for loose line or obstructions. We are expecting a hard winter this year so it won’t be easy work!

Along with the general work to ready the site for next year’s anglers, the fish need to be fed over winter. Venue owner, Richard Whittle explained: “Clearwater Lakes is well-known as a venue to break your PB and myself and Will are particularly keen to sustain that reputation, so to ensure some really big catches for next year we are planning a major feeding regime this winter. Ours will be the best-fed carp around!”
