Fox Supa Brolly System

The original Supa Brolly was launched to critical acclaim and was followed soon afterwards by the ‘system’ that included zip-in front with mozzie and standard options with doors and windows and suchlike.
Not able to get hold of the simple brolly due to its popularity, I bought a system when I discovered that Chapman’s Angling Centre was one of only a few shops that actually had a delivery. I didn’t particularly want the infill and certainly not the mozzie front, but it was either this or miss out altogether. So, out came the credit card and the next day the Supa Brolly system duly arrived.

My reason for wanting one so badly was the unique internal mechanism that works in the same way as a traditional brolly but in such a way that all of the spines and support system is much smaller, therefore allowing way more headroom.

Once erected, the internal space is similar to that of many one-man bivvies but with the ease of use and footprint of a brolly. The fact that it packs away so easily into my Aqua quiver also scored highly.

I’ve since used it on the odd overnighter and, more regularly, day sessions and I am very impressed. I originally had an issue with the one pole that threads across the front and gives it tension and shape and couldn’t get it to sit correctly. However, a quick call to Fox and I was told me that it was a batch issue and was sent a replacement in just a few days.

There is plenty of room under the brolly and there are, as I’ve come to expect from Fox, lots of nice additional touches. The small storm poles fold away neatly and can be left in the brolly when packed down, I like the rain channel on the front and even the hanging loop in the mechanism is a nice touch.

With Fox’s Ven-Tec material, clip-in groundsheet and the infills if you want them, there is absolute protection all-round too, which is surely the most important element to any shelter.
