Fox Micron Ntxr Alarms And Ntx Receiver

As a huge fan of the old RX Digital, an iconic alarm that Fox produced 10 or so years ago, I went off Fox alarms when they started to produce much smaller and comparatively complicated units.

After such faux pas as the EOS, Fox has burst back to the top with its current Micron ranges, in particular the NXr and the range-topping NTXr. The slightly larger head looks much better – how a Fox alarm should look, in my opinion.

Although I rarely venture far from my rods, the water I often fish is surrounded by trees, so a strong signal is needed even if I am just sharing a brew with a mate in the next swim. From the tests I have done with these so far, they boast the strongest signal of any alarm I have used.

Sensitivity is impressive – thanks to the D-TEC sensing system, which also eliminates false wind bites – and the adjustment, along with tone and volume, is via three simple switches on the face of the alarm. No fiddly button sequences here.

It’s a small thing, but the NTXr sounds like a proper Fox alarm too. I also appreciate its ability to change the LED colour on the head, which automatically synchronises at the NTX receiver.

My only gripe is the stainless collar, which niggles when I have these on my Black Label bars and sticks, but that really is just me being picky to the extreme! I guess you could argue too that just a penny under 200 quid is expensive, but we are talking ultra-high-end technology and superb build quality here.
