Summer can predominantly mean warm nights and quick sessions, and there is nothing more annoying than having to lug your large two-man winter bivvy around the lake.

Well you no longer have to. This awesome little shelter boasts all the features you would expect to find on larger bivvies but without the weight and bulky nature.

The bivvy alone weighs in at a rather minimal 5.5kg, which is just madness, and the whole package is not much larger at 10kg. You can happily use it without the front entirely, or your choice or full infill panel or mesh options, which is spot-on for the ever-changing English weather. The front peak also adds more protection, so if you are fishing without the front and the rain drives in, rest assured that you will be nice and dry nestled away under it.

One thing we like about this product is that, in keeping with the Avid style, it has once again staggered the pole layout, offering increased internal space without compromising on the compact nature of the shelter. Another benefit of this design is the strength and stability with the side retention bars. These also double us as rod-retaining straps. Multiple pegging points and tension straps ensure that once the shelter is properly erected, it really is as sturdy as an anchor.

The material is obviously waterproof, and to an impressive 10,000mm benchmark, but if you want a little more protection you can also purchase a separate overwrap to suit.

The back benefits from a rear window, adding ventilation and light, perfect for those clammy nights we are sure to be experiencing soon. Complete with a clip-in groundsheet to help deter mozzies and heavy-duty pegs, this all comes in a supplied oversized carry bag. (DM)
