The first thing that struck us about the Atom is how small it is. It is perfect for the angler who doesn’t want to take too much bulky gear but wants to remain dry.

It comfortably fits a standard bedchair with enough room to store your luggage. The footprint is tiny so you won’t have any problem fitting it into tight swims.

When packed down, the Atom will fit easily into a rod quiver because each rib breaks five times, making it a very compact package that will fit into a rod quiver easily. As you can see by the pictures, we have placed it next to a standard-size bivvy table to show you how small it packs down. The waterproof bag is made from the same Aquatexx material as the bivvy, so you can store your wet bivvy in your quiver without soaking the rest of your gear. Aquatexx reduces condensation while remaining durable, so you can really abuse it without fear of breaking it. The frame consists of a two-rib, pram-hood-style design made from black anodised aluminium, saving on weight.

The front of can be adjusted in a variety of ways. The conventional zipped front allows the maximum protection if the weather takes a turn for the worse. There is also an option of a mosquito-mesh front, which is a real advantage on hot summer nights when the mozzies are causing havoc. The front can also be rolled back to be fully open so that you can get a panoramic view of the lake. The groundsheet, as with all bivvies in the Aqua range, is hard-wearing but lightweight, in keeping with the whole ethos of the Atom bivvy. Pegs are also provided as standard with the package.
