Winter can be dark and gloomy at the best of times, so we decided to team up with market leader, COAST, to bring you the best in LED-lighting products to light up your campaigns. Headtorches are the number-one source of light when you’re out on the bank and there are two models in this giveaway. The smaller of the two is the HL27, offering a large 309-lumen output, and is perfect for close-quarter and distance work; even capable of illuminating targets up to 122 metres away. The much larger HL8 is Coast’s most powerful headtorch, giving off an amazing 344 lumens, and when run on the more than functional power energy setting has an incredible run time of over 79 hours.

This week I’ve been out on the bank fairly regularly, but about half the time has been spent wetting a line, other than my marker rod. I’m undertaking a season long campaign on one of my local rivers so a lot of time has been spent rambo’ing about looking for carp, interrogating the seemingly tight lipped pleasure anglers, finding spots, and probably most importantly for this type of fishing, baiting them up. The rower’s certainly aren’t helping, they’re a bit of a nuisance, and some appear intent on being extremely ignorant and rude towards anglers, but at least they all go in at night. On the plus side it’s all coming together nicely so I’m confident I’ll get a result soon.
