World Carp Classic gets underway.
Yesterday afternoon saw the huge opening parade of the 2013 World Carp Classic. A huge flag bearing through the centre of Bolsena town where all 27 countries represented had the chance to show their countries colours off with pride and they certainly did.
Led by an Italian marching band the 270 anglers plus event sponsors, runners, media, staff, family and onlookers made their way through the town and into the grand hall in the town square for the all-important draw.
The draw itself really was a who’s who of the elite angling world with the likes of Frank Warwick, Max Nollbert, Lee Jackson, Rob Tough, Martin Locke, Hans Sissing, Nick Helluer, Ardy Veltkamp, Sandro Di Cesare, Jason Cann and many more all entering the draw to win the world’s biggest carp match.
Some were happy with their draw, others not so much, but that is why Bolsena is such an incredible venue, its vast size and incredible stock mean that it could be won from one of hundreds of swims so each angler always thinks in the back of their mind that they are in with a chance.
The match itself started at 2pm and many anglers are still out on the water mapping out their huge areas of water. Tomorrow morning we will wake up to loads of fish from all over the incredible lake and the leader board will take shape for the first time. If your readers would like to see the live leader board at any time then simply go to www.worldcarpclassic.com and take a look.
