The June issue of Total Carp is now on sale!
Well, just like that we are halfway through the year – I have absolutely no idea where the time has gone! Last month I spoke about the fact that I’ve not had a lot of time for personal fishing and was sat on the banks of my syndicate, the very next session they had a go at spawning, on April 28th! I have, however been enjoying the weather as much as the fish have, I think, I’ve become obsessed with gardening and planting flowers!
It seems, they are a great indicator of how far along we are in the season, and recently big-carp angler Gary Atkin referenced his ‘Tree of Truth’ in the garden, which I believe was a Cherry Blossom. He also posted a photo the year previous on the same day and its growth was far ahead. Technology and nature working hand in hand, it’s a funny one really, we think of the seasons as these fixtures that don’t move but they are extremely flexible. No year is the same; this spring felt rushed but in truth I think it just started much earlier. Enjoy it all year round I say, and enjoy each stage of it.
The June issue brings you some belters, with my personal favourite, technically speaking, being an article from Matt Eaton where he talks about balancing hook baits – something that is often overlooked but is definitely worth a read as it will catch you more fish!
I have to mention Oz Holness too. I can’t put my finger on why but this month’s ‘Reflections’ article just made me feel how I did when I read fishing mags as a youth.
Ian Russell and I went down to a new lake, Mavericks, and did some really simple solid bag angling with a few between us, as always Oli Daives makes ‘Every Second Count’, there’s and a bonus ‘In Session’ feature with Adam Penning, whilst the CC Moore team head to arguably the best social venue in the UK.
We also have a look at some mega kit, from some of the best companies – bait, tackle and the in-between.
Check out some of this month’s highlights…
In Session with Adam PenningDiscover Adam’s day-ticket approach. If you have followed his work previously you will know it’s a no BS, no fluff, simple spin on things. As he often says on his Carp Academy channel – change your perspective on how you look at your carp fishing, for the better!
Tour de Day-TicketIan Russell heads to a new lake on the Go Catch App, Mavericks Fishery, a deep two-acre irrigation pond with a decent stock of carp to go at. He and Jake make subtle changes to their approach to put multiple fish on the bank, proving the small percentages make all the difference.
Social SeasonA few of the lads from CC Moore head down to Embryo’s ultimate social venue to fish for some of the mega fish that reside in North Bank. Fishing a mixture of tactics between them with a couple of nights in hand, how do they get on?
A month in the life
This month, Trakker cameraman John Flewin gets out with a variety of anglers, Mr Frank Warwick to name one, his usual positive vibes throughout with a special week missing saved up for his next article.
Inside the mindThe topic inside Matt Eaton’s mind this month is all about balancing hook baits, not only to the rig you are using but situationally speaking, as well as alongside certain free offerings. Just when you think Matt can’t think of another topic, he drops a belter into our inbox. Make sure not to miss this one.
