The World Carp Classic has been won by the all-female pairing of Lizette Beunders and Bianca Venema from Holland, the first female pairing to ever win an international carp match. Lizette and Bianca, representing Dynamite Baits, were out in front for virtually the entire event and finished with a final weight of 366. 5kg, a fantastic result that saw them finish a long way ahead of runners up Lee Jackson and Rob Tough, and win by the biggest margin in the events history.

Stars pay tribute to legendary rod builder. It has been announced today that the legendary carp angler and rod builder, Bruce Ashby has passed away. Bruce was regarded as being one of the UK's leading experts on building carp rods. Insurance now included in Angling Trust club and syndicate membership. Membership of the Angling Trust now includes insurance automatically with club and syndicate membership. The standard cover includes £5 million public and £10 million employers liability to clubs, including for work parties, maintenance, coaching days and all the angling activities of their members in the UK. This standard cover can be extended to provide £10 million public liability insurance, and other items such as contents, trophies, club houses and boats.
Prosecuted angler failed to wake for 15 minutes. Recent angling press reports about an angler "being prosecuted for being asleep" while fishing for carp have generated a huge amount of interest in the wider media and on Facebook. Today, the Angling Trust has published the full facts, obtained from the Environment Agency today by Fisheries Enforcement Manager Dilip Sarkar in order to set the record straight about why this particular angler's actions presented a threat to fish and wildlife and to reassure other anglers that as long as they can take immediate control of their rods when they are awakened by a bite alarm they will not be faced with prosecution for this normal angling activity. "Mr Holbrow was prosecuted for leaving his rods unattended and for fishing without a valid rod licence.

World Carp Classic gets underway. Yesterday afternoon saw the huge opening parade of the 2013 World Carp Classic. A huge flag bearing through the centre of Bolsena town where all 27 countries represented had the chance to show their countries colours off with pride and they certainly did. Led by an Italian marching band the 270 anglers plus event sponsors, runners, media, staff, family and onlookers made their way through the town and into the grand hall in the town square for the all-important draw.
