Skee-Tex has been manufacturing clothing and footwear for outdoor pursuits for years. The field boots are a classic combination of thermal winter footwear with the design of a sturdy reliable field-walking boot. With a rubberised waterproof foot section ensuring your feet remain dry, these boots are also fitted with a comfortable, laced, suede calf section that, although isn’t waterproof, will keep your feet toasty right down to freezing point. Within the boots there are removable liners made from English wool that provides unrivalled warmth and ingenious wicking fibres to stop your feet perspiring.

I have been using the XTs for six months now and they have been nothing short of fantastic. The faultless line lay and the large, coned spool really aid casting, especially during big chucks. With just one turn of the front drag, the XTs can be easily turned from free spool to locked up, so it’s easy to use and it feels strong and durable when cranking in fish from long distances or through heavy weed. Small features like the discreet spring-loaded line clip are kind to the line and easy to use.

I’ve reviewed the Supa Brolly on a couple of occasions and, once I’d got to grips with threading the front pole (when I bought mine, it was from a batch where this pole was too long), I was smitten. On the subject of the pole, while it’s easy enough to attach, and is essential to maintain the round profile, it does mean slightly more effort compared with other brollies. This is ostensibly a brolly but, in truth, it has the internal dimensions and space of a more substantial shelter. Following requests from its many loyal customers, Fox has now introduced this smaller, compact version, which is more in keeping with a brolly in terms of size and footprint.

As an avid user of Proper Job’s excellent hook baits, which are always brilliantly rolled and boast superb flavour ranges, I was excited when these two new versions landed at TC towers. The first tub we opened were the Scopex & Strawberry, a combination that seems less popular than it once was but which is a devastating bait, especially in cold conditions. They smell terrific, which isn’t always a barometer that they’ll work, but I know that Kevin Heal at PJPU uses only the best flavour/attractor combinations so I have no doubt that these will be effective. Second up is the wonderful Chocolate Orange, which is an absolute winner.

TC reader Mike Francis from Hull says: I’ll be honest, when I sent my name in for these Reader Reviews I thought it unlikely that I’d receive anything decent, but when this Krusha was delivered, complete with a note from the editor, I was delighted. I’d wanted one for some time but at nearly 15 quid I felt it too expensive. “Result,” I thought. There’s not much to really say about the Krusha itself.
