Hard Winter Session
tommy humm | Mar 8, 2024
Angler Name: Tommy Humm
Hometown: Bromley
Fish Weight: 19lb 8oz
Bait: Stickybaits14mm white mulbz pop up
Venue: Beaver Fishery, Snipe Lake
Rig: Ronnie rig with a long soft coated braid hooklink
Tactics: Cast to deeper area of the lake near an aerator.
Additional Info: After moving half way across the lake in thunder, lightning and hailstones, to a more promising area after a lack of shows on arrival and some local intel of carp regularly coming out from a spot near the aerator, I clipped up and placed a Ronnie rig with a white mulbz pop up in a deeper area of the lake near an aerator, where the swans couldn’t tip up and feed. I scattered around 5-10 boilies around the area. I knew the fishing would be hard with the fish not giving up where they was so easily. During the night at around 3:45 I had a bream like pick up on the middle rod, and I knew there was only carp in the lake. I thought it was a savage liner until the clutch started ticking on the reel, I was in. The fight lasted around 10 minutes till I netted this lovely 19lb 8oz VS stocky mirror. It wasn’t until around 6:30-7 that the fish started showing but to my surprise they was on the south bank of the lake no where near I was fishing. But to be the only to catch over the weekend I was proud of myself to catch a carp.
