Gardner ATTs IW alarms and receiver! (Video)

Where reliability is concerned, it’s hard to beat Gardner’s revolutionary ‘silent’ alarms – the ATTs. Combining exceptional build quality, top-notch electronics and the 100 per cent watertight design, there is very little margin for error, meaning these alarms truly stand up to abuse! For those who are unfamiliar with the concept, by removing all speakers, buttons and dials, Gardner is able to produce a super-compact and watertight alarm, with fantastic battery life. The ATTs alarms then connect with the super reliable ATTx V2 or Deluxe receiver, which provides the user with all audible bite indication and control.

Over the years the original ATTs alarms built a solid reputation and numerous iterations have been released since, with the latest being these IW versions, featuring an illuminated roller wheel. Rather than the super-bright latching LED at the front of the alarm as featured on the standard ATTs, the IW has an LED beneath a transparent roller wheel, which illuminates the roller itself.

To enhance rod stability, the ATTs heads incorporate high parallel ‘ears’ that effectively prevent lateral rod movement, reducing the chances of a rod being dislodged during intense takes. They also have a soft-touch, rubberised finish, which not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also contributes to its overall functionality to reduce forward travel when fishing with a tight clutch.

What sets ATTs heads apart is their user-friendly design. In lieu of traditional buttons or knobs, these heads employ an “Intelligent” Protective Hard Case as standard, acting as the ON/OFF switch for your ATTs. This clever design feature helps preserve battery life by disabling it when the hard case is fitted. Removing the hard case re-activates the ATTs. Moreover, the absence of buttons, jack-plug sockets and speakers significantly reduces the risk of water infiltration and damage to the electronics, ensuring long-term durability.

An integral Low Battery Warning System further enhances the user experience, sending a warning signal to the ATTx receiver when any ATTs head is running low on battery. This notification is conveyed through a series of beeps that correlate with the respective head’s channel.

Customisability is another key aspect of the ATTs system. Sensitivity can be easily adjusted by swapping out the roller wheels. These alternative roller wheels are available in a wide range of colours and configurations, including two, four, or six magnet roller wheels. Each choice corresponds to a different level of sensitivity: the two-magnet wheel triggers the receiver to beep once per 1cm of line movement. The four-magnet wheel increases sensitivity, causing the receiver to beep once per 0.5cm of line movement. The ultra-sensitive six-magnet wheel then produces a beep for every 0.33cm of line movement. Furthermore, the ATTs introduces a bite detection system featuring ‘anti-rock’ firmware. This intelligent technology prevents the alarms from emitting repetitive false beeps, a common issue in many other roller wheel alarms.

For those looking to enhance their ATTs setup, numerous upgrades are readily available from the Gardner Tackle website, including upgrades from the standard ATTs to the IW version or the fully translucent crystal body version. In addition, the ATTs alarm includes a dedicated betalight slot on each ear for the optional 6mm x 2mm ATTs Tritium Max Betalights, which are available for purchase separately. With a full one-year ATT warranty, you can trust in the durability and performance of this exceptional product.
