Chub Smart Box

There’s a plethora of tackle boxes available these days, many of which have followed Fox’s original concept.

The Chub Smart Box has been around a while and in this ‘System’ version offers multiple internal compartments, boxes and hook-link spools. Each is designed with rounded bottom edges to make flipping them out of the main box a doddle.

The plastic construction is robust, although we did find the clasps a little fragile. That said, they bedded in once they’d been opened and closed a few times. The lid, which when opened sits flat to form a work surface for tying rigs and the like, features measuring markers for ensuring consistent rig length.

The flip-top compartment boxes allow storage of all the smaller items of terminal tackle and there are enough of them to swallow more bits and bobs than you’ll ever realistically need. With continued opening and closing one or two of these needed some encouragement to stay shut, but this was only in the case of the odd lid.

If a couple of these points seem a little negative, neither would be reason not to buy a Smart Box, especially when you consider that at just a penny under 20 quid, you could buy two of these and it would still be considerably cheaper than some others on the market.
