Angler Name: Thomas Kearns
Hometown: Chertsey
Fish Weight: 31lb
Bait: Sticky the Krill Active mix
Venue: Tri-Lakes
Rig: Spinner
Tactics: Fishing single pop-ups
Additional Info: Upon arrival to Tri-Lakes in the morning the weather took a sudden turn for the worse with a drastic drop in temperature and a sudden downpour in rain, causing many anglers to reel in their rods and leave because of the discomfort. But not me. I saw a rare opportunity that no one else did. There was no angling pressure on the lake which allowed me try out new spots I had never touched before. After a long and frustrating 2 hours of stalking I found a group of 3-5 carp huddling by a group of Lily-pads. I dropped in a spinner which consisted of Korda 25lb boom, a size 6 spinner hook(barbless) and a sticky the Krill pink pop-up. And after approximately 2 minutes, the rock which I had balanced on my tell had dropped and I was away. The carp headed straight towards a neighbouring island but I was quick to react and held my spool tight, manoeuvring it away from all the snags and into my net after a thrilling two minutes of trying to avoid getting snagged and a hook-pull.
