A First for Carp Angling

This year’s Evesham Festival will have a significant carp angling presence for the first time.

The three-day festival, to be held over the August Bank Holiday, used to be predominantly aimed at match anglers, but the 2010 event will see the Total Carp team, along with that of sister publication Advanced Carp Fishing, on hand with advice and instruction on rigs, baits, tactics and all things carp related. In addition to this there will be bargains aplenty as well as a wealth of attractions on offer with loads to see and do for the entire family, including boat rides along the River Avon and a funfair.

Best of all entry is free, so come down and join in.

Expert Personal Tuition

Well, two vastly experienced anglers have started one-to-one angling tutorials to further the skills of carpers of all abilities. Derek ‘The Don’ Ritchie is a true character of the sport and has done it all. Along with being given more help and advice than you will know what to do with, spending time on the bank with The Don will be full of fun, laughter and, of course, carp – trust me, you will enjoy it.

Iain ‘Ting Tong’ Macmillan has triumphed on venues all over the country, loves his carp fishing and has a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of the sport. He will be basing his tutorial at the popular Linear Fisheries complex in Oxford, but will happily visit any venue that the customer requests. Both will tailor each tutorial to the specific requirements and requests of each customer, with an aim to helping you further your fishing and hone your skills.

The All-New Carp Show

This year sees the launch of a brand-new show created by carp anglers for carp anglers.

The UK Carp Show will run on September 11th and 12th at Broadlands Lake in Hampshire alongside the 2010 British Carp Angling Championship (BCAC) final. A show ticket, which costs £15, or £12 in advance, will enable you to watch the UK’s elite carp-match anglers compete for the £10,000 first prize and top step of the podium, as well as giving you access to everything else the show has to offer. A live stage area will see a number of the UK’s best-known anglers give advice and answer questions on a wide range of angling topics. Tuition and live demonstrations will be taking place on the demo lake. There will be the obligatory mountain of new gear for you to drool over and masses of bargains for you to take advantage of, as well as competitions and a whole lot more.

Rob Hughes, the man behind the BCAC, told TC: “The BCAC final is the pinnacle of the carp angling calendar and to have an event of this magnitude running alongside it will only add to the excitement of the weekend.”

Bill�s Lake Record Tumbles

Swim One on Lake One produced this colossal 66lb 4oz mirror at Bill’s Lake, the second sixty-pounder from the French venue in just a fortnight.

Delighted captor Alex Mabire used Bill’s Lake Special Boilies presented in a hole in marginal weed to tempt the impressive specimen. It’s surely only a matter of time until Bill’s Lake does its first carp over 70lb.

Korda at Chapman�s Open Day

Big-carp catcher Darrell Peck will be on hand at a Chapman’s open days on August 13th and 14th, where he’ll be demonstrating his considerable expertise in the world of carp rigs and presentations as well as showcasing Korda’s latest range of products.
