Essex-based clothing company Diem has further strengthened its team of consultants to produce even better clothing for the modern carp angler.

Angling duo, and carp match aces, Lee Merritt and Rob Marsh are the latest additions to the team and will be working alongside the designers and the rest of the consultants to push the fledgling brand further. Given Diem’s success and rapid growth over the past year the brand is set for impressive things. What’s more, it’s quickly found favour with anglers on the bank as well as the TC team. Dave Padgham, RIP

It is with much sadness that we report the death of Conningbrook bailiff Dave Padgham.

Dave, one of carp fishing’s nice guys, had been with Mid-Kent Fisheries, the record venue’s controller, for many years and became extremely well known, and well liked, by the many who fished ‘The Brook’ in that time. Our sincere condolences go to Dave’s wife and young family.

Sonubaits and Korum Sponsor Yateley

Two Shropshire firms, Korum and Sonubaits, have hooked up with CEMEX to sponsor the famous Yateley complex.

“The venues boast a staggering big-fish list,” says Korum and Sonubaits’ media and marketing co-ordinator Mat Woods. “Yateley is a remarkable place to wet a line. It’s even historically significant for some anglers – a place where records are broken and dreams can come true.” Sonubaits’ operations manager, Ian Day, adds: “We’re pleased to be sponsoring one of the best-run fisheries in the UK. Is this the Best Team in Carp Fishing?

As well as signing up for a brilliant new series in this very magazine, which starts this month on page 13, the phenomenal Jim Shelley has rejoined Dynamite Baits.

This means that Jim takes his place in the elite Dynamite line-up, which includes Terry Hearn, Nick Helleur and the legendary Frank Warwick. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like one very impressive line-up to me! The debate as to who is the best carp angler in the UK has raged for a long time, but nobody is in any doubt that Terry and Jim are right up there and to have them working together on the Dynamite team is truly spectacular.

I spoke to Jim and he explained that, although his time with Nash Bait and Tackle had been a good one, he is relishing the new challenge ahead. “I would like to thank Kevin Nash and Gary Bayes for their support and help during my time with Nash and I am glad that I leave the company on good terms,” Jim told me. “I am looking forward to working with the Dynamite team and especially expanding my knowledge of particle fishing,” he added.
