Rated or Slated: Delkim Tx-i Plus Alarms - 25/03/2010

Marc says: I remember my first set of Delkims and, back then, you were the bee’s knees if you owned a set. Despite the increased number of top-end alarms available to the modern carp angler, they remain at the top of the tree when it comes to features. They’re certainly not the most expensive on the market either. The design of the head has only altered slightly over the years, but it remains a timeless symbol of quality and hi-tech usability. The range of the dedicated Rx Plus receiver is impressive and this continues to work in even the worst of conditions.

Sensitivity, volume and tone are all infinitely adjustable and the unique reed system offers superb sensitivity for even the shyest-biting carp. There are a few unique features too, including the excellent anti-theft alarm that alerts you immediately that one of the alarms is switched off. The range test is also impressive, as is the battery life – the best of any alarms that I have ever used.

If all of this sounds too good to be true, there is the inevitable ‘but’. Although only a minor point, I would have hoped that Delkim could have addressed the annoying problem of the battery cover sliding off every time you replace the hard case. It would surely not take too much of a tweak to rectify this.

Verdict: Brilliant alarms that continue to be a firm favourite with carp anglers the world over.
