First Impressions: Matrix Innovations Stage Stands - 02/07/2009
I am not a huge fan of rod pods and, although I do own one, I only ever use mine when I absolutely have to. This is normally when I am fishing on wooden platforms, and occasionally on concrete dam walls and suchlike.
Well, I no longer need it for the wooden staging because I have got myself a pair of these brilliant little gadgets. In a nutshell, they screw into the wood with a single, self-tapping screw, and then house your bankstick, allowing you to fish your normal set-up on platforms rather than carrying the extra bulk of a pod.
The bankstick sits in the tubular body and a large thumbscrew allows everything to be locked up tight. There’s a removable insert that allows the use of standard or chunky banksticks, so the Stage Stands are suitable for most stainless sticks on the market. Okay, I might have had to add a small screwdriver to my tackle box and always take a few spare screws with me, but this is a lot less hassle than carrying my pod.
