Ultra Special
£1,590 TRAKKER COMPETITION www.trakkerproducts.co.uk
The Trakker Pioneer Ultralite is one very special bivvy, and we have three to give away, complete with winter wraps…

When the original Pioneer first burst onto the carp fishing scene some five or six years ago it caused quite a stir. The innovative system by which it is set up was like nothing we’d seen before. This took bivvy erection to new levels of ease and many serious carp anglers immediately recognised the benefits and, to this day, the newer versions remain a huge favourite.
As well as this ease of erection, the Pioneer seems to somehow solve that eternal problem of wanting enough room inside without taking up too much space outside, so being able to fit snugly into even the tightest swims. Essentially, it becomes the perfect combination between brolly-style shelter and full-blown bivvy and that’s why so many of those anglers who really know what they’re doing rate it so highly. Perhaps second only to the pram-hood construction, the Pioneer system is extremely sturdy and will stand up to extreme fishing conditions – certainly anything that you are likely to encounter in the UK and mainland Europe.
Several of the TC team have used these over the years, and editor Marc Coulson still does so, and they can all recount tales of it standing up to some serious battering from wind and rain. More recently made from the fabulous Armotexx material, it is even more weatherproof than before and remains drum tight whatever the conditions. This is applicable to the bivvy and the dedicated wrap. Back to the erection process, and the Pioneer utilises a simple two-part foldout design with a large, two-piece block on the top. Using two small poles, this block is drawn together and then a heavy-duty ‘S’ clip locks it in place. This literally takes seconds and, once pegged out, the Pioneer is up and ready.
You can use it in its simplest form, almost like a brolly or short-session shelter, but there are also plenty of extras that can be used to turn it into the full-protection bivvy. An infill panel is supplied with each Pioneer and includes a mozzie section, ideal for summer use. This can be rolled back when not in use or removed altogether via the chunky full-length zip. There are numerous user combinations. The current model is the result of the Pioneer evolving until it has become one of the best bivvies on the market. If you’re after versatility, ease of use and you don’t want to compromise on coverage and protection, then log on to Trakker’s website and check this bivvy out.
